DEVON KENNARD'S CAREER
October 2023 I decided to official retire from the NFL. A goal of mine has always been to retire on my terms and I can now say that I accomplished that. To end a 9 year career healthy with the success I had is truly an honor!
In October of 2022, I joined the Baltimore Ravens, where I spent 7 weeks playing!
I signed a 3 year contract to play for the Arizona Cardinals. I was apart of the Cardinals organization from 2020-2022. Being with the Cardinals was significant for me and my family because Phoenix Arizona is my hometown. The Greater Phoenix Area is where I spent virtually my entire life and also where my father Derek played for the Cardinals. We became one of only three father-son combinations to play for the Cardinals organization.
I spent two great years 2018-2019 with the Detroit Lions. In my first year in Detroit, I was voted team captain while also having my best NFL season yet with 46 tackles and 7 sacks. Then bested it the following year with a 58 tackle and 7 sack season. I was nominated for the 2020 Walter Payton Man of the year award for my community efforts working with after school programs in the Detroit community.
My NFL career began in 2014 when I was the 174th draft pick (5th round) by the New York Giants. It was a great time of progress. I earned a starting spot my rookie season and was voted NFC Defensive Player of Week on December 7, 2014. I started for the Giants for my entire career with them from 2014-2017. I became known for my versatility and ability to play as a linebacker and defensive end and totaled 203 tackles, 9 sacks and 1 interception.
Before entering the NFL I played college football at the University of Southern California (USC) where I earned my Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Communication Management. I was a High School All American and top 10 high school football prospect.
I was born into a football family; my father played in the NFL 11 years and started for the Dallas Cowboys on their 1996 Super Bowl winning team.
